Are you getting a “USB device not recognized” error whenever you plug in a USB mouse, keyboard, or other USB device? I love USB and have 5 ports on my computer so that I can connect my mouse, keyboard, camera, phone, and printer to it all at once!
However, last weekend, my computer stopped recognizing my USB devices! The strange thing about it was that the USB ports were not bad because all of my devices were still getting power to them. I could still charge my cell phone without a problem!
You will see this error message below after connecting a USB device to your computer

People sometimes see it after inserting a USB flash drive, external hard drive or USB hub. Fortunately this is common problem with a surprisingly simple solution.Or after installing samsung Kies.
Don’t bother with chkdsk.exe, regedit ,System Restore, Driver reinstallations or Device Manager.Just follow these steps below to fix this problem
- Power down your laptop or desktop
- Physically unplug the computer. If it’s a laptop, remove the battery too.
- Leave it disconnected for three minutes
- Replug the desktop or reinsert the battery
- Power on the system
Reason:
The key to making this work is to completely remove all power to the system. The USB ports on your computer are physically soldered to the motherboard and the motherboard gets its juice from the power supply. On modern PC’s, when you click Shutdown or press the Power Button, the microprocessors on the motherboard still have vestiges of power. The capacitors on the system board still has latent power; therefore, when you reboot the system or do a soft shutdown the computer doesn’t actually reset the power to the system board because the capacitors are still storing electricity.Physically removing the battery and power plug and leaving it disconnected for three minutes gives the capacitors the requisite time to discharge and therefore does a true reset to the motherboard.
